Prelim: Magazine Flat Plan
I created a 2 magazine front cover and contents page ideas based on popular magazines I had seen before and incorporated some styles into mine. This was just I could get a basic idea of the layout and positioning of different conventions such as the model, masthead, coverlines etc.
For this front cover I chose to draw Zendaya as my model as her overall style is very outgoing which is what I want the vibe of my own magazine cover to be. The pose was simple, yet effective, including a strong posture with angle of gaze. At the time of creating this cover, I didn't yet have an idea as to what i wanted the name of the magazine to be so I left a space for the masthead. The coverlines are included both left and right and some overlap the main image, and this was so I could get an idea of positioning when it came to the actual cover. The colour scheme was also quite random as I mainly did colours which contrasted. Not a lot of detail was required for this as it was just to give us a basic idea.
I also made an idea for the contents page. Even though it's not included in the drawing, I wanted more than one image to be present on the contents page. I drew an image from a long shot point of view as it would be good for a fashion magazine. I then made a rough idea of what was to be displayed on this page such as features of the magazine and page numbers directing to different pages.
Although it wasn't necessary to make a second cover, I did try out a different style with this one. I had thought of a suitable masthead for my magazine cover and the font which I included. I also had a male model on the front of this for variety and it showed a different pose. This was mainly so I could get an idea as to what looked good and worked in accordance to fashion poses and what didn't. I think this cover looks quite good and the model pose is quite different and subverts some typical conventions such as the not including props in shots. Overall, I came to the conclusion that I wanted a strong pose which attracted attention showed uniqueness.
